Do you want your child to spend less time on their phone or tablet?

Do you want your child to spend less time on their phone or tablet?
Then there’s something I believe is really important:
It’s not enough to simply tell them:
“Put the phone down.”
If we don’t give them something they genuinely want to do instead, they’ll probably go right back to it.
That was one of the ideas behind the creation of Junior Guitar Heroes.
I didn’t want to create just another guitar lesson.
I wanted children to have goals, missions and challenges that make them want to pick up the guitar.
Because there’s a big difference:
A phone offers ready-made entertainment.
A guitar gives a child the chance to create something of their own.
To try.
To make mistakes.
To try again.
And eventually say:
“I did it!”
My goal isn’t for a child to never use a phone or tablet again.
That’s not realistic.
What I want is for the screen to not be their only option.
And parents can play a very important role here.
Instead of constantly asking:
“Did you practice?”
Try asking:
“What did you achieve today?”
“Do you want to show me what you learned?”
Don’t turn guitar into another obligation.
Show genuine interest in what your child is creating.
Because ultimately, we don’t want to simply replace one activity with another.
We want to help children discover that they can have fun, create and grow without a screen.
And that is one of the things I’m trying to achieve through Junior Guitar Heroes.
